Amongst all the road trips I’ve ever done with my family, my 9-day New Zealand South Island road trip was my favourite one.  Here’s 10 reasons why:

Larnach Castle

#1 Family-friendly – New Zealand South Island was so easy to travel with family. I travelled with my hubby, two kids, my mom and sis.  Yes, we had three generations of family members on this trip, ranging from as young as 7 months old, to 60-something years old, and we had a blast.

#2  Reasonably-priced – It was not difficult to find reasonably-priced rooms with kitchenette that could accommodate the 6 of us.  We were able to do this trip in less than $50 per person per day.

Puzzling World, New Zealand#3  Fun stuff for the kids – including a farm stay, a visit to the Cadbury World, and the Puzzling World, and a 360-degrees spins in a high-speed Shotover Jet boat in Queenstown.

#4  Spectacular landscape – We could see a lot of the great sceneries; and for a number of them, we did not even have to get out of the car!

#5   Picturesque view of the Otago Peninsula from the Larnach Castle and Gardens.

Lake Pukaki, New Zealand

#6   Peaceful and crystal clear Lake Wanaka that made me wish I could sit there all day.

#7  Surreal milky-blue Lake Pukaki and Lake Tekapo with its colourful flowers.

#8 Rich Maori culture and history.

#9 Did the craziest thing when I was there.

#10  A memorable cruise at the Milford Sound Fiordland.
