On the fourth day of our New Zealand road trip, we left Dunedin and started our journey along the Southern Scenic Route with stops at Kaka Point, Nugget Point, Surat BayPurakaunui Falls, and Invercargill. We ended our day in Te Anau.

Nugget Point

Nugget Point is one of the distinctive landforms along the Otago coast.  As we walked along the footpath towards Nugget Point, with my 7-month old daughter in a backpack baby carrier. we enjoyed the amazing ocean view.

And here are the nuggets as seen from the Nugget Point lighthouse.  There was actually one fur seal at the bottom left of the picture below. Can you spot it?

Purakaunui Falls Walk

Our next major stop was the Purakaunui Falls in Caitlinswhich could be reached on foot in 10 minutes from the carpark.

The bush walk to the Purakaunui Falls itself was easy enough for my 60+ year old mom to do.

And there it was… the cascading multi-tired Purakaunui Falls.
