10 reasons why I love my New Zealand South Island Road Trip

Amongst all the road trips I’ve ever done with my family, my 9-day New Zealand South Island road trip was my favourite one.  Here’s 10 reasons why: #1 Family-friendly – New Zealand South Island was so easy to travel with family. I travelled with my hubby, two kids, my mom and sis.  Yes, we had three generations of family members on this trip, ranging from as young as 7 months old, to 60-something years old, and we had a blast. #2  Reasonably-priced – It was not difficult to find reasonably-priced rooms with kitchenette that could accommodate the 6 of us.  We were...

Lotus Desaru Beach Resort and Water Park

My family went on a quick getaway to Lotus Desaru Beach Resort during the Chinese New Year holiday this year.  With the new highway, it took us about one hour from the Tuas checkpoint to get to Desaru which was on the eastern part of Johor, Malaysia. The resort was huge with eighteen 4-storey blocks.  The 2-bedroom family room where we stayed came with a kitchenette, 2 toilets, a living and dining area.   I got a unit at Block R which was walking distance to the beach.   There were lots of activities at the beach, including jet ski, family...

Kidzania Malaysia

Kidzania Malaysia is not your typical theme park with amusement rides or arcade games.  It is a one-of-a-kind concept where kids get to role-play different professions through interactive learning. The first order of business upon arrival was to “check-in” and get our tags.  These tags would prevent anyone other than the parents to “check-out” the child.  It was also used to record photos taken by the Kidzania photographers for subsequent retrieval and purchase.   My kiddos were happy to receive a cheque for 50 Kidzo dollars, and were even happier after they cashed them in at the bank for Kidzo...

Sydney Aquarium and Fish Market

On our second day in Sydney, we travelled via hop-on-hop-off  bus and visited the Sydney Fish Market and the Sydney Aquarium.     Before heading to the Sydney Fish Market, our bus stopped at Mrs Macquarie’s Point.  We made a quick photo stop there as Mrs Macquarie’s Point offered an unrivalled view of the two iconic landmarks in Sydney – the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The Sydney skyline was another great view from Mrs Macquarie’s Point.   Sydney Fish Market Having lunch at the Sydney Fish Market is a must-do when visiting Sydney as it serves a wide variety...

Blue Mountains is a national park in Australia’s New South Wales that is popular amongst tourists in Sydney. The “Three Sisters” is one of the top attractions at the Blue Mountains. Featherdale Wildlife Park

Featherdale Wildlife Park is a zoo in Sydney with lots of native Australian wildlife and bids.  The park had a number of marsupials including kangaroos, wallabies, wombat and the Tasmanian devil.  We got to see the most adorable koala bear cuddling up on a tree.   We also got to see several reptiles like crocodiles, turtles, lizards and snakes.   If you are brave enough, try holding a snake and smile at the camera.   The park also had a variety of Aussie birds including kingfishers, emu, stork and soft bills.   The great part about the Featherdale Wildlife Park is...
