Disneyland Castle

Our visit to Disneyland Park in California was the kiddos’ first Disney theme park adventure.  There were several themed areas includingng Main Street U.S.A, Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, Frontierland, Mickey’s Toontown, New Orleans Square, Critter Country, and Adventureland.

From the entrance, we walked along the Main Street U.S.A, and reached the centre of the park where the Sleeping Beauty Castle (above) stood.  The castle was part of Fantasyland.

Rides at Disneyland

Even though my girl was just 2 years old, there were a number of rides in Disneyland that were suitable for her. The kiddos had fun at the spinning teacup, the ride called “It’s a Small World” and many more.

Disney Princesses and Parades

There were several parades to watch throughout the day.  We got to see all the Disney princesses and other Disney characters at the parades.

Mickey’s Toontown

Mickey’s Toontown was also a hit with the kids.

Disneyland Toontown

They visited all the homes of Mickey and friends in Toontown.  My daughter liked Minnie’s house the most.  We were able to take pictures with Mickey and Minnie at their respective houses, but the queues were quite long for each character.

One other place we tried was the Haunted Mansion.  Great effects, and not too scary for young kids.

Tips

  • You can purchase tickets at Disneyland website.  It is cheaper to buy a 2-park ticket, rather than 2 separate tickets for each park.
  • If you plan to visit for 3 to 5 days, you can enjoy early admissions, or what Disney calls the ‘Magic Morning’.
  • Go on a weekday for a lesser crowd.
  • All ticket holders are entitled to the FASTPASS where you can reserve time-slots for a popular ride and avoid the long queue.  However, you cannot get a second FASTPASS until a certain time after you got your first one, or when you have used the first one.

Where to Stay

We stayed at Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites, which was walking distance to the entrance of Disneyland.  Click here to see a list of accommodations near Disneyland.
